365 Days of Twinipedia - Day 33

Day Thirty-three of Twinipedia:

Fact #33
These percentages actually surprised me, although Becca, being a mid-wife was not surprised since she is a smarty and knows all this stuff.

Anyway, Baby.families.com reports that 16% of triplet births are spontaneous .  I totally would have thought it would be even lower than 16%.  In this day and age, with so much more availability to fertility assistance, I would have thought that spontaneous triplet conceptions would have happened even less often than 16/100 pregnancies.

Also, 5% of quadruplet births are spontaneous. So 5/100, that seems like a number I can wrap my brain around.

And who knew,...Anything more than quadruplets is not spontaneous at all.  I actually never really thought about whether this would be the case or not.  I know any time I have heard of more than4 babies, it has been a fertility assisted pregnancy but I did not know that medically, anything more than 4 babies did not happen naturally ever.

I learn something new every day.  LOVE IT!

  1. It kind of surprises me that there are NO spontaneous quint births, since the famed Dionnne quints happened so long before drugs were prevalent. Hmmm...
