Book Recommendation and Review: Parenting School-Age Twins and Multiples
This book is a much needed addition to the comprehenisve library of books out there on having and raising Twins and Multiples. As one mom reviewer put it, "While there are many books on pre-school and younger twins, there's been a need for a good practical book on school-age multiples. My twin daughters are 13 and I wish this book had been around when they were 5!"
There is no doubt that the needs of your multiples change a lot when they start school and this book helps parents navigate effectively through this time in their lives.
Check this great reference book out on parenting twins and multiples once they are in school.
Book Description:
Real-world advice for when your twins' and multiples' concerns go beyond "Should they dress alike?"
Should your twins be placed in the same homeroom at school? Does one of your kids have a harder time making friends than the other? How healthy is competition among your triplets? Christina Baglivi Tinglof, author of Double Duty and a mother of twins, expertly guides you through your kids' school years, from the first days of kindergarten to the always drama-filled years of high school.
Drawing from the latest cutting-edge research and hundreds of parent-tested tips, Tinglof offers proven advice to:
Encourage individuality
Foster positive sibling relationships
Discipline effectively
Deal with one child developing faster than the other
Manage common speech and reading difficulties
Review on Amazon.com http://astore.amazon.com/blogabouttwins-20/detail/0071469028
This book addresses an exceptional array of situations encountered by multiples and their families. Chapters are devoted to understanding the twin relationship, developing identity, and promoting individuality. Discipline and education issues are each explored in depth. Competition and cooperation as well as fairness and fighting favoritism are discussed. Relationships between parents, siblings, and the multiples are addressed with honesty and openness. There is also a chapter devoted to that wonderful stage--puberty! Throughout the book readers will gain insight from the 'parent-to-parent' dialogue. Information is drawn from both scientific literature and interviews with parents of multiples. Burning questions that parents face can be found here, along with some wise and common-sense answers. This easy to read and useful reference will make a tremendous addition to any parent of multiples' personal or club library, and would be a welcome gift to your multiples' school library too. The information within can certainly be shared with anyone who interacts with multiples! Debbie Ciardi, Nov/Dec 2007 -- From The National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs Notebook
This book offers veteran parents of multiples facts and friendly advice on parenting their school-age children between the ages of 5 and 18. As a seasoned writer and mother of three boys, including school-age dizygotic twin boys, Tinglof presents scientific literature and supports it with personal experience and interviews with more than 40 multiple-birth families. The text begins with a general and realistic look at the "intratwin relationship." In particular, the twin bond is demystified and defined as a "high access" sibling relationship. Tinglof explains that a multiple-birth set's shared gestational and developmental environments result in the formation of an "influential and intense sibling alliance." At the same time, she communicates that differences---physical, psychological and social--- are inherent to all multiple-birth sets. This point is emphasized with the fact that while monozygotic (identical) twins have the exact same genetic make-up, they have dissimilar gestational environments that render them different from the get-go. The theme of twins being simultaneously the same and different resonates. The majority of the text addresses multiple-birth specific topics. Accordingly, there is a chapter on identity and individuality, discipline, education, competition and cooperation, fairness and fighting, and puberty. Multiple-birth families with single-born children will be partial to the final chapter, as it explores the family dynamics inherent to these complex units. Within each chapter, Tinglof explores the topic in general and then within the context of twin-type. Tinglof is careful to communicate that while norms exist for each twin-type, individual differences are widespread. Tinglof's focus is squarely on the social development of multiples and their broader family system. Ultimately, her goal is to advise parents on how to help their multiple-birth children balance their individual and multiple-birth selves. She does this by offering parenting recommendations in each chapter. Tinglof recognizes that the implementation of recommendations is not easy, since parents are often required to support two or more people in conflicting roles. The paradoxical parenting task of encouraging one child without diminishing the other is often called upon. Specifically, parents are counselled to provide each child with separate belongings, along with a place to store them. Separate physical places are also advised. She is clear that these places do not have to be formal. Staggered schedules and makeshift room dividers are examples of practices that can support this objective. To foster strong and separate identities, parents are encouraged to take many individual photographs of each child along with the usual array of "group" photos. For the same purpose, parents are counselled to ensure that their multiples are dressed differently, thus encouraging others to relate to them as individuals rather than as a unit. Likewise, friends and family are to be told to limit/eliminate comparisons. Of course, cherishing the multiple-birth experience along with its intrinsic rewards is communicated. The intricate and delicate act of harmonizing extremes is required at all times. Thus, while parenting twins---or being a twin, for that matter---is not easy, it is always inspiring. Dr. Audrey Huberman, Oct 2007 -- From Multiple Moments (Multiple Births Canada)
Mother of twins Christina Baglivi Tinglof, the author of the popular, Double Duty: The Parents' Guide to Raising Twins, offers proven advice and parent-tested tips for parents of twins and higher order multiples who are entering their school-age years. From kindergarten to high school, twin children face unique challenges and opportunities. As parents encourage individuality of their twins, they must consider how to handle speech and reading difficulties, encourage positive relationships between the twins and other siblings, and manage effective discipline. Tinglof also offers advice on how to respond and encourage when one child develops faster than the other, and manage competition between the children. A major issue for many parents of multiples is the question of whether twins should be placed in the same classroom as the other. Tinglof offers helpful suggestions and strategies on this important topic, and provides assistance in making the best education decisions. Changing family relationships are also discussed by Tinglof, for as the twins grow and mature, their relationships between each other and their siblings, and parents, will change. Fairness and favoritism is a key topic that Tinglof explores, offering insightful observations and advice on parenting behavior that does have consequences. Parents of twins growing beyong their toddler years will find this book to be a useful tool in their decision making process. --Twins Magazine, 2008

This review is from: Parenting School-Age Twins and Multiples (Paperback)This book fills a gap in the books available on parenting multiples. While there are many books on pre-school and younger twins, there's been a need for a good practical book on school-age multiples. My twin daughters are 13 and I wish this book had been around when they were 5!
I'd recommend this to anyone who has children who are starting school soon or who has specific issues that they'd like to learn more about. It's full of good advice and a very quick read.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Parenting School-Age Twins and Multiples (Paperback)I had given up finding books that pertains to raising twins in the bookstore ... they're all for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, which basically has nothing to do with issues that I face with my twins, even at the same age. The books I've found dealt with surface issues such as how to handle sleeping arrangements, bottle-feeding/breast-feeding and so on. Those books rarely talked about prematurity issues, when one has a disability and the other one doesn't and about preschool issues, such as developmental delays and so on. I didn't expect to find any other resource on raising twins after infancy till I heard this one mentioned in another book club.
It is with great apprehension that I picked this book up and I wish I had read this book when my twins were 3! My husband and I had gone back and forth about whether or not to separate them in two different classrooms and whether or not to keep them together or how to deal with certain issues that developmental delays bring. (No, she does not address that issue in here, but a lot of the issues she does address pertain to classroom separation ...) This book has brought a great sense of relief for this mom!
Here is a sampling of the issues she covers in this book:
Understanding the Intratwin Relationship
Developing Identity and Promoting Individuality
Double Discipline (always helpful!)
Multiples and Education
And more.
This is a book that I will not give up till my sons have their own children. It may be outdated by then, but I can assure you that the practical tips that the parents interviewed by Tinglof will still remain common sensical. Maybe you don't need this book, but if you're one of those parents of multiples trying to make sure you're making the right choices, this book is definitely for you. It might just enlighten your way or perhaps give you a different perspective ... whatever it is, it is just a practical book. A keeper. 8/23/08

This review is from: Parenting School-Age Twins and Multiples (Paperback)This is one of two books by Christina Baglivi Tinglof that I have read and loved it just as much as Double Duty! Deciding on your children's education is so important, not just picking out which school but also how your twins or multiples will handle situations. My husband and I have been working on enrolling our twin girls into full-time school and make the decision to keep them together or not has been a challenge. This book is helping us make a decision based on our children's personalities and needs. Any parent faced with the tough decision should read this book today!

This review is from: Parenting School-Age Twins and Multiples (Paperback)Thank you for the reassurance that my girls are normal ... well normal twins. Twins are a totally different world, and I'm so thankful for this book. There is plenty of material out there for when the girls were smaller, but not so much as they are maturing. Thank you for taking the time to do all the research and put it together. It is a blessing.

This review is from: Parenting School-Age Twins and Multiples (Paperback)When I was expecting our twins, Christina's "Double Duty" was hands-down my favorite text. Now that our twins are five and a half and preparing to enter kindergarten, Christina's writing once again has become my go-to resource via her new book, "Parenting School-Age Twins and Multiples."
Skillfully weaving the latest scholarly research on multiples with invaluable anecdotal revelations from numerous twin-blessed families, Christina has created a resource our family will be referring to again and again in the years to come.
The text not only acknowledges the unique dynamic within identical and fraternal twins' interactions and relationships, but addresses the additional components of gender match or difference.
With objectivity and respect for varied families and the individuals within them, Christina takes on the often touchy issue of school classroom placement---thoughtfully sharing both studies and multiple multiples families' experience (including her own) in a way that provides assistance, insight and validation.
Can you tell we like this book? To date, I've been happy to loan (or give away) many of my books that I read while preparing for our lives as twin parents to others who've found themselves in a doubly-expecting situation. Christina takes her latest book right on up through life with twin teens, so needless to say, "Parenting School-Age Twins and Multiples" is a book we'd recommend (and plan on revisiting repeatedly!) for the long haul.

This review is from: Parenting School-Age Twins and Multiples (Paperback)This book is just what I've been looking for. Most books on raising multiples start with pregnancy and end at pre-school. As my twins approach puberty, this book gives insight on what's ahead and how to get there with a little sanity. Parents of higher order multiples and siblings of multiples can find some help here as well. It is a quick read and clearly well researched. I liked the no-nonsence attitude the author expresses and the "From One Parent to Another" side bars.

This review is from: Parenting School-Age Twins and Multiples (Paperback)Ms. Tinglof does an excellent job of intertwining research, personal experiences, interviews with other parents, and practical tips to create a resource that is invaluable to parents of older twins. There are very few resources available for parents of school-age twins, and this book fills that need beautifully. I especially like the information on school-related scenarios such as whether to separate twins in school and the chapter on friendship-building during the school years. As a pediatrician and mother of twins, I highly recommend this book to parents of multiples as they prepare for the amazing and wonderful experience of raising school-age twins.

Our older sister who had twin girls for her 3rd and 4th children had her hands full when they were born. And although she had a 5 year old, 3 year old and newborn twins, she was committed to breastfeeding them for as long as possible as she had done with her older two children. She pumped sometimes so others could help her feed one of the little twinnies while she tried to rest or fed the other baby. But one thing she swears helped her nurse her twins far longer than she thought she would be able to was the extra large Inflatable Pillow she bought just before having them. The pillow was shaped just right for feeding the babies at the same time and was just wide enough that the babies could be comfortable and not roll off the pillow's side. She also liked that she could increase or decrease the air level depending on her needs and had a back pillow for her. She also loved that the pillow had an angled top surface which helped to position the girls at the best angle for effective nursing. Plus the soft velvet, non-slip surface was completely waterproof & surface-washable.
The fact that the pillow deflated and inflated easily was a big plus too for storage convenience and although she never traveled with the girls when they were bring breastfeed, she liked the idea that if she had needed to, she could have deflated the pillow and taken it conveniently to where ever they needed to go.
Here is some additional information about this pillow from Twinstuff.com. There is also a foam version of this extra large, twin breastfeeding pillow so check that out as well below.
Hope this review helps any moms or dads-to-be out there expecting multiples with feeding their little ones more easily and conveniently.

This review is from: Parenting School-Age Twins and Multiples (Paperback)I thoroughly enjoyed reading this volume cover to cover and taking notes as I went. Having made it to third grade, my resources were running thin. So glad to have the additional guidance needed for my almost 9 yr olds!
Fantastic job!

Great online game site for little kids
(and Video of the cutest 3 year old ever)
PBSkids.org has such a great website. The games and activities are all about having fun and and interacting with all the cute, funny PBS characters. All my girls have loved this website and my 3 year old is now totally enthralled by it.
(See video) She loves the Curious George counting game called Meatball Launchers. She has to make George shoot meatballs from a meatball launching machine. But she also has to count as she plays in order to "fill the meatball order" correctly for the restaurant customer. Then once she gets to the right amount, she has to ring a bell 'cause the "order is up".
She really caught on fast as to how to play this game. She also learned a lot about counting as well as about controlling the computer mouse's movements. She became totally animated while playing and she was so excited every time she counted correctly. She cracked herself up too whenever she got an answer wrong (love how she covers her mouth whenever she is gonna smile big. Too cute.)
I like that these online PBS games are so encouraging and "cheer the child on" while they play but I also love that they let the child get things wrong too. They learn from these success/fail experiences. They realize as they play that it is better to try and get something wrong than to not try at all 'cause the next time they try, they just might have learned how to succeed and get the correct answer. Love it!
These games are easy to use, well created, teach many different pre-school and early-education skills (shapes, colors, counting, number and letter recognition, patterning...) and are a whole lot of fun.
Have your little ones check this site out. They will love how fun it is and you will love how much they learn.

They love it's convenience, ease of use, safety features and fashionable look. Check out what people are saying about this Multiples carrier below and also scroll down to watch the video tutorial that shows just how easy the TwinTrexx is to use.
Reviews:
1. ***** Great for the City - 5 star score
I live in NY and this carrier is perfect. I carry my twins up and down the stairs and it's wonderful. I also love that they are still small enough to have them face me when I'm on an elevator. It just feels like I have more control over who reached out to touch them!!!
_________________________________________________________________________
2. ***** Use it Every Day - 5 star score
I use my TwinTrexx every day and just love it. It's very soft and comfy and my twins almost always fall asleep in it. Great buy!
_________________________________________________________________________
3. ***** Have Been Using Mine for Two Months - 5 star score
I am always a little hesitant about writing reviews as soon as I get a product so for this one I waited a little over two months. I can honestly say that my twins really like this carrier. They are 6 months old and fall right asleep in it. I sometimes use it as a single carrier when one is a bit fussy which is a great up side. Shipping to Canada was a little costly but I guess that's normal.
_________________________________________________________________________
4. **** Cool Carrier - 4 star score
I am a stay at home dad and love this carrier. The babies are nice and snuggled in and it's great to be able to carry them around the mall without having people "gawk" at them and ask me 50 questions. Wish the shipping to Canada was not 30 bucks but thinking about it now that I have used it, it's not bad at all. Great gift for dads of twins. Highly recommend it._________________________________________________________________________
5. ***** Must Have for Twin Moms and Dads - 5 star score
This is definitely a must have for parents who are home alone with their twins. Highly recommend this carrier.
Also, the TwinTrexx...
- can be used in various positions, front/back, side to side or as single carrier for each parent!
- is cushioned in all the right places for maximum comfort!
- has external pockets for easy storage!
- is a fashionable baby carrier that makes it stylish to carry two babies!
- comes in a uni-sex burgundy color
- Each carrier holds up to 25 lbs!
- is easy to put on and off! (See Video Below)
- is very safe and Complies with EN/BS13209- 2 Safety Standards

Not for the Prude-of-Heart!
So my on-line blogging friend Jen from Life With Levi tweeted about this item on Etsy and I just had to do a little research on it and post a product review. They are too awesome and thanks Jen (@lifewithlevi) for the share. So glad you showed them to us.
Just too funny, Unique and Creative.
And although this may throw some old folks off a bit, man-oh-man would I give anything to see their faces!
Plus, if you have multiples, the visual of your little ones wearing these hats while they nurse at the same time would be just PRICELESS!!!!!
So, if you are breastfeeding, these are just a must have. And even if you can't crotchet, buy the pattern and have a local crocheter create them for you.
LOVE LOVE LOVE. Makes me wish I was still nursing (well, maybe just a little)

They are a great size for any neck and they can be worn on chains, ribbons, and cords. They look so chic, whimsical and unique. *The Bebe Baby Sling Bottle Holder
Ever felt like you needed to be an octopus in order to meet all the needs of your children at any one time. I know I sure have. One child wants your attention to play a game, and the baby wants to eat. Or your double-trouble twins want to eat right at the same time but you only have 1 set of hands to make the feeding process happen.
Well, here is a product that can make any busy mom or dad's life a little bit easier! The Bebe baby Sling Bottle Holder.
This bottle holder is too cool. And is useful with singletons whose mom or dad simply need to use both hands for other activities at feeding time, or can also be an amazing option for parents of multiples who may need to feed their little "double darlin's" at the same time and who are not the super octopus parents we all would love to be.
The Bebe holder is easy to attach to any baby car seat and works with both straight handles as well as Z-shaped handles. The bottle is held in the correct angle to make sure the flow of the milk/formula is proper so that baby does not get stomach issues/gas... The holder also works with any bottle style.
Other great aspects to this bottle holder are...
it's compact - perfect for diaper bags
teaches babies how to hold the bottle
returns to position for active infants
promotes hand-eye coordination
entertains the baby and can hold toys
best of all - it is simple and easy to use!
Other additional info. from the Bebe bottle Sling website...
This Holder Allows for Hands Free Bottle Feeding
-Other baby bottle holders or hands free baby bottles can't compare to the bottle sling. Have you ever needed an extra hand bottle feedingyour baby (or babies if you have twins, triplets, or multiples) but became frustrated propping the baby bottle with pillows or toys that never stayed in position? The BeBe Bottle Sling is designed to hang from any infant car seat handle while holding the bottle at the correct position for hands free bottle feeding.
The BeBe Bottle Sling encourages babies to play with the bottle and as a result they learn how to take the nipple in and out of their mouth whenever they want. With this unique baby product, even very small infants can manipulate the baby bottle, hands free with just a small turn of their head. Its unique suspended design allows the baby to practice holding the bottle but it always returns to position in front of the baby's mouth when they let go. Parents of twins and triplets say that these baby bottle holders are a lifesaver and are essential to bottle feeding multiples at the same time to reduce stress for the parent and the babies.
The BeBe Bottle Sling makes the perfect gift for moms
of multiples or singletons. Guaranteed to be the most useful and unique product at the baby shower. In the end, I say this baby Sling gets my "this Product Rocks" review because... |
* it holds the bottle for baby while also teaching baby how to hold it themselves, giving mom and dad the ability to be handsfree at feeding times.
* it holds the bottle at the correct angle for optimal stomach protection (no air = no gas issues).
* it is perfect for Twins/Triplets since it allows mom/dad to feed babies at the same time.
* It has adorable design options (monkeys, flowers, cats, dogs...) that catch baby's eye and are a great got entertaining your little one.
* the holder adjusts to fit all bottle sizes and styles so that you can continue to use the bottles you already own.
* the holder fits on car seat styles so you can continue to use the car seat you already own.
* it simply makes life for mom and dad easier...NOW THAT DEFINITELY ROCKS!!!!!!!
(*The Bebe bottle sling is NOT recommended for use in a moving vehicle. Adult supervision REQUIRED)

A baby-friendly carrier for singletons, twins and preemies.
There are a lot of carriers for babies out there on the market today but only a few are made for twins. And very few are made with the safety and needs of preemies in mind. Well, here is a carrier that was designed by the original makers of the Snuggi carrier and who, after not being thrilled with were Snuggi's direction had gone as a company over the years, decided to create a new, more baby friendly carrier for singletons, twins and preemies alike. There are many other carriers out there but after reviewing the Moby and a few other baby carriers, this is the carrier I found to be the best option for any parents with multiples, preemies or even for those with just a little single prince or princess. I especially like this carrier because there was a lot of thoughtfulness put into how this carrier respects the needs of a new born baby's body. "Many (carriers) do not meet even the basic requirements for a good baby carrier. In particular, the baby's legs must not hang down straight but should be bent at an angle of at least 90° ("frog-like-position"). The baby's back should be supported enough to bring the baby close to the person carrying it. The baby's head should be supported properly and fully. The smaller the baby, the more important the compliance with these criteria."
Here is some additional product info. from the companies website.
The Weego TWIN is the first baby carrier for twins. It is intended for use particularly in the first few months and gives you the possibility to carry both babies together on your front. This not only enables you to give both babies a lot of closeness and physical contact but also facilitates many situations (shopping, going for walks) without having to take a big twin-stroller along.
The Weego Twin can be used from birth on - starting at a weight of the babies of 3 lbs (1.600g) each. This allows the use of the Weego TWIN also with premature babies. Depending on the weight and size of the babies, it can be used until the twins are approximately 5 - 6 months old.
Like the original Weego, the Weego TWIN comes with the special double pouch systemwhich ensures the orthopedically correct posture of your babies. It easily adjusts for growing babies and for fitting different people carrying them.
The Weego TWIN is made of navy light cotton twill with blue and green plaid lining. It is machine washable at 30°C (92°F) and can be tumble dried at low temperature.
Price: US$ 149
- especially designed double-pouch construction
- for babies from 0 - 24 months
- "grows" with the baby
- easy to handle
- easily adjustable for growing baby and to fit different people
- 3 carrying positions
The especially designed double pouch construction of the Weego Baby Carrier guarantees that your baby is always secure, comfortable and cosy:
- The inner pouch supports your baby's back
- The outer pouch supports your baby's head and neck and protects your baby
- The outer pouch, in connection with the shaped inner pouch, always ensures the "frog-like-position"
- The Weego easily adjusts for growing baby and to fit different people carrying the baby.
1. Face-in (0 - 9 months): Face-in is the standard position and the most convenient for cuddling and sleeping, especially for newborns and very small babies. With its head against your chest your baby feels safe and close.
2. Face-out (from 5 months on): Face out is the "exploring" position when your baby can hold its head unassisted. Start taking your baby on stimulating adventures to experience the world…like to the zoo or on hikes in the woods. 3. Backpack (0 - 24 months): In this position, newborn infants can be carried comfortably and securely and bigger and heavier babies can be carried comfortably piggy-back style for a longer time.
So I say check this carrier out at your local baby store or go one line, order one. and be assured that this company has really tried to make a carrier that protects your baby and respects the needs of your baby's growing body.

*FAVORITE PRODUCT ALERT FOR PARENTS OF MULTIPLES -
baby cozy world embroidered nylon carrier cover in navy blue |
IF YOU'RE PREGNANT WITH MULTIPLES OR HAVE TWINS/TRIPLETS STILL IN BABY CARRIER CARSEATS, THIS COVER IS A MUST HAVE!!!!! WITH MULTIPLE LITTLE ONES TO GET IN AND OUT OF THE CAR THROUGHOUT THE DAY, THIS QUICK ON, QUICK OFF COVER WILL MAKE YOUR INSIDE/OUTSIDE TRANSITIONING WITH BABYS A BREEZE.
CATHY WAS GIVEN A CAR SEAT COVER SIMILAR TO THIS ONE WHEN SHE WAS PREGNANT WITH HER FIRST DAUGHTER. SHE THO0UGHT IT WAS A LOVELY GIFT BUT HAD NO IDEA UNTIL BABY ARRIVED RIGHT BEFORE WINTER TIME, JUST HOW MUCH SHE WOULD LOVE AND RELY ON THIS COVER TO MAKE HER LIFE EASIER.
AS SUGGESTED BY MOST CAR SEAT COMPANIES, THIS COVER DOES NOT GET PLACED BEHIND THE BABY IN THE CAR SEAT. THIS COVER USES AN ELASTIC OUTER BAND THAT SIMPLY SLIPS UNDER THE LIP OF THE BABY CAR SEAT'S EDGE AND WRAPS THE WHOLE SEAT IN A COCOON-LIKE WARMTH. BABY IS SERIUOSLY COZY WARM IN THIS COVER. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS PLACE A BLANKET ON TOP OF BABY ONCE S/HE IS IN THE CAR SEAT AND THEN WRAP THE COVER OVER HIM/HER. NO BULKY COAT, OR SNOWSUIT NEEDED WHILE YOU RUN YOUR ERRANDS OR PICK UP SOME GROCERIES. PLUS THE FACE OPENING CAN STAY OPEN WHILE YOU ARE INSIDE SO BABY CAN GET FRESH AIR AND LOOK AROUND OR IT CAN BE CLOSED FOR A FOR A QUICK RUN TO THE CAR IN ORDER TO PROTECT THEM FROM THE ELEMENTS.
baby cozy world embroidered nylon carrier cover in pink |
ANOTHER NICE THING ABOUT THIS COVER IS THAT YOU CAN PULL THE ELASTIC BAND OFF THE TOP HALF OF THE CAR SEAT AND JUST LET THE BOTTOM HALF SERVE AS A BLANKET WHILE YOU ARE INSIDE WITH BABY/S, MAKING YOUR LITTLE ONE/S EVEN MORE COMFORTABLE AND NOT OVERLY HOT.
CATHY ALSO LOVED THAT IF HER LITTLE ONE FELL ASLEEP IN HER CAR SEAT, THAT THIS COVER COULD BE VERY EASILY REMOVED WITHOUT DISTURBING HER LITTLE ONE. IF SHE HAD HAD TO REMOVE A HOT, BULKY SNOWSUIT ONCE THEY GOT INTO THE INSIDE HEAT, BABY WOULD HAVE MOST LIKELY WOKEN UP. AND WHO DOESN'T LOVE A GOOD LONG NAP.
Baby's Cozy World Sun & Bug Cover - Green Dots |
THESE CAR SEAT COVERS COME IN nylon outer layers WITH COZY FLEECE INSIDES so baby stays dry on WET-WEATHER days. some also have stylish embroidering on them. SOME HAVE ZIPPERS ON THE FRONT TO MAKE ACCESSING YOUR LITTLE ONE A CINCH AND SOME ARE MADE WITH MESH NETTING FOR BUG-BITE PRevention IN WARMER WEATHER WHEN BABY IS OUTSIDE WITH THE FAMILY.
BABY COZY WORLD COVERS:
- $14-$25.00 FOR THE CAR SEAT COVERS
- $29.00 FOR THE STROLLER COVERS
THIS ended up being CATHY'S FAVORITE SHOWER GIFT AND SHE HAS ALSO GIVEN IT MANY TIMES OVER TO HER PREGNANT-MOMMY FRIENDS WHO have ALL THEN RAVEd ABOUT THE CONVENIENCE OF A COVER LIKE THIS. CATHY WAS STOPPED REGULARLY IN STORES BY MOM'S AND MOMS-TO-BE, WHO WERE INQUIRING ABOUT HER COVER, AND IF SHE LIKED IT AND WHERE SHE GOT IT. SHE COULDN'T HELP SHARING WITH THEM HOW CONVIENENT AND HELPFUL IT WAS TO HAVE FOR HER LITTLE ONE.
Baby's Cozy World Stroller cover |
THE ONLINE REVIEWS I LOOKED AT FOR THIS COVER WERE 5 STARS ACROSS THE BOARD. THE OWNER'S WENT ON AND ON ABOUT THEIR EASE, CONVENIENCE AND AFFORDABILTY. PLUS THEY LIKED HOW THE COVERS HELD-UP OVER TIME AND HOW THEY WERE EASY TO KEEP CLEAN SINCE THEY WERE NOT ATTACHED TO THE CAR SEAT ITSELf.

* Preggers by Thermafirm: found today at Zulilly (up to 55% off).
On Zulilly today, the hosiery line Preggers by Therafirm, is being offered at a big discount.
We had never heard of this hosiery company during our pregnancy's although we both had to wear hosiery, and knee high tights through out them because we both work in professional settings. Neither of us loved any of the maternity hosiery items we had bought then. They did not always stay up well and they certainly did not add compression that could help with swelling relief. And women carrying multiple babies are far more likely to have swelling issues and discomfort earlir in their pregnancy and throughout the later part of their pregnancy.
So not only did we want to find out a little more about whether we would like Preggers' product line for a regular pregnancy but also for a pregnancy of multiples.
We also went looking for feedback from online reviews about these products in order to share with you what other moms-to-be were saying about Preggers by Thermafirm.
Product background from Preggers by Therafirm's™ website -
*Unique line of maternity support hose and compression products developed by future moms for future moms. Moms-to-be were invited to try the products and provide opinions on styles, colors, and fit. The“Preggers Mommas” team were an integral part of our product and brand development to ensure a full line of healthy products that will benefit all during and post-preggers.
*Gradient compression hosiery do? - Support Hose or graduated compression has often been recommended for use during pregnancy to help energize tired, achy legs and to help reduce and prevent swelling. True gradient compression hosiery delivers a controlled amount of pressure greatest at the ankle and gradually decreases towards the top of the stocking promoting better blood flow to help energize tired legs and feet, improve circulation, and assist in the prevention of swelling. They are also ideal for individuals required to sit or stand for long periods of time. But what is unique about Preggers by Therafirm™ compression products? - Maternity compression products where the expecting moms, are being heard. No more stigma of the old, “yucky” compression that is available in only a few styles, off-trend colors, is uncomfortable, hard to get on, and expensive. They believe you can wear compression and get the benefits it provides and still be fashionable. And state that they want you to feel AND look great!
Some lucky mommas out there never experience any of the discomforts of swelling or fatigue during pregnancy. (Lucky you!)
*THERAFIRM offers a full line of true gradient compression hosiery in mild, moderate and firm support. With experience of making compression hosiery for more than 50 years, we continue to innovate compression garments. While compression stockings have been around for decades, THERAFIRM compression hosiery products are not "your grandma’s compression stockings". They are made with the most beautiful and comfortable fibers out in the fashion industry today. We use advanced technologies for developing products that are fashionable and comfortable while delivering the health benefits you need. We offer a wide range of advantages including updated shades, sheer yarns and knit pattern texture options, so you can feel good about wearing compression hosiery. Preggers by Therafirm products found on Zulilly are 100% made in the USA in our own manufacturing facilities.
REVIEWS -
*First thing we wanted to note was that we do like that these items are USA made. Yeah Preggers! and we also especially love the wicking material the hosiery is made of , allowing the items to "breath" more effectively on a woman's body.
Here are some comments product reviewers shared about their experience wearing Preggers by Therafirms -
- "The test product has really helped with the pain of my varicose vein."
- "I had no problems putting them on- no cutting off circulation or bunching. Took me 4 minutes to put on, vs 10-15.I would like 5 more pairs at least... Without a doubt I will be recommending your brand to friends and family."
- "...I am now 30 weeks pregnant with only 10 weeks left. The past few weeks have left me with severe varicose vein problems. I have been wearing the Preggers hose, alternating with the simple compression hose from Motherhood Maternity. The Preggers are, of course, a much higher compression and I can definitely tell the difference. The Preggers have made a positive difference in my leg swelling and pain. Thank you so much and I look forwarding to benefiting from your product for the next 10 weeks."
- "Love the color choices!"
- "I used these products (gradient compression) during my third pregnancy and felt significantly better than I did during my first two pregnancies."
- We also assessed 28 Therafirm hosiery reviews on Amazon.com to see the overall feedback from this company's clients. We calculated out the average review score from the 28 reviews using their scoring range of 1-5, and the overall review score was a 4 (4 being an above average review score) on this site.
We think these pregnancy hosiery's are a cool idea and certainly worth a try. We also feel that they could be a huge help for women pregnant with multiples since the Gradient compression component could help to decrease the significant swelling that can occur with a "multiples" pregnancy. We do suggest to moms-to-be who are carrying multiples that they may want to go up one size larger than they initially thought they'd buy. This way they can adjust for the larger belly growth that occurs during these pregnancy's.

*Alex and Ani's Twin Symbol Bangle Bracelet (Gemini)
We did not realize until recently that the Zodiac Symbol for Twins is Gemini. After finding this out, we decided to review AlexandAni.com 's really great Gemini, Zodiac Expandable Bangle and online store. I am totally into AlexandAni.com 's Jewelry lately and love layering their expandable bangles. Their great styles and variety of jewelry options is also a draw for me. Plus I am thrilled that all their jewelry is made from recycled metals.
This bangle is a great gift for yourself if you are a twin or to give to your twin. Maybe you can even have a matching pair... Kind of like the Wonder Twin's matching super power rings (remember..."Wonder Twin Power's, Activate" lol). A sibling, parent or grandparent of twins may also want to give these as gifts to the twins they love. They could also wear them themselves to "show love" for the twins in their lives.
Alex and Ani makes their bangles "expandable", which means they can be adjusted to fit your wrist size simply and quickly (LOVE). 2 of our daughters have a Zodiac sign bangle and the bangles tighten onto their small wrists with ease. And the best part for us is we can then steal their cute bangles, adjust them to our size, and wear them with our 3 (Seal of RI charm, Sailboat Charm and Compass Chart bangles) as part of a layered look.

The Maclaren Twin Triumph Stroller
Great Deal Alert for Double stroller w/ Free Shipping-
This top rated stroller is on sale today at http://www.albeebaby.com/maclaren-2009-twin-triumph-stroller-coffee-brown.html
I think it may only be in brown and green for this price but great price - was $265.00 now $199.00
Some review comments from amazon -
- "Compared to the other double strollers out there, it is very light weight and compact when folded. It's also exceptionally maneuverable. I can whip it around racks and thru doors one handed. I've done quite a bit of shopping with it and discovered that it does very well in the malls. It fits through all of the single door entrances in the mall -- from the main doors to dressing rooms to restrooms. It also does just fine in most of the stores aisles. Some stores jam racks in so tight that it's difficult to walk thru by yourself, regardless of having a stroller, but that can't be helped."
- "The seat reclines enough for my newborn to lay snugly in it."
- "Be aware that the "that the baskets are quite small and at first it can be stiff to open."
- "It is quite light, I feel like it weighs only as much as my Graco single stroller! I love that it's an umbrella stroller, making it so easy to transport. It even fits in the trunk of my husband's compact car. It is also very easy to steer, and I have no problems fitting it through doorways or narrow corridors."
- "I recently purchased the Maclaren Twin Triumph Stroller and was impressed with many things:1. Ease of assembly2. Ease of steering--very smooth3. It is just as comfortable for my 2 year old (almost 3) as it is for my 4 month old.4. I can push this through every door so far without any problems. The only negative is it has a smaller amount of storage space available. I haven't had to bring the diaper bag on our short walks, but I expect I will need to leave the diaper bag in the car and take what I need when we go out."

*Stroller Connectors: Turning single strollers into doubles.
There are several kinds of stroller connectors on the market for parents of multiples to consider purchasing.
These connectors attach to the horizontal metal bars on strollers. They create a double stroller from a single. Seems like a cool way to save some cash and go light-weight if you are a parent of twins or have siblings close in age.
One type of connector has 2 parts that snap together (see white connectors) and one type has loops at the ends that wrap around the bars and then lock into place (see black connectors).
Some of the pros to these connectors
*Cheap - around $10
*Most customers felt the strollers locked onto each other well.
*After a little practice, they become easy to maneuver
*Total investment if you bought a couple inexpensive umbrella strollers and connectors ~$50 unlike double strollers which can run well into the hundreds of dollars.
*Great for grandparents or sitters who don't have kids all the time and don't want to invest in bulky, heavy strollers that have to be stored between visits.
*Great for airport travel since the strollers are light and not bulky and the connectors can be slipped into a purse or suitcase when the strollers are not in use.
*Get with a Sit and Stand set of strollers too. If you use the connectors on these types of strollers, you could push 2 small children in the front stroller seats and have 2 other medium size kids sit on the back seat sections. Great for a nanny, babysitter, daycare...
Some of the cons to these connectors
*The length of one set of connectors were considered long, causing the 2 strollers to be farther apart then some parents liked. This makes it harder to use them to get through tight doorways, narrow aisles...
*Connectors could loosen, especially in rougher terrain.
*There is some play between the two the strollers.
*If the strollers are not the same brand/style, the connectors can loosen more often then when the strollers are the same brand.
*If the stroller bars are not round, but are instead oval, the connectors don't lock on as tightly as when the bars are round.
-Wheels can get a little tangled when backing the strollers up.
